We had a pretty uneventful flight to Beijing. It was very smooth but also long. Boredom set in about 5 hours into the flight, but that was to be expected. It was extremely foggy in Beijing. We were picked up by our guide, Freda, and driven straight to our hotel, the Sino Swiss. It is quite a nice hotel about a 15 minute drive from the airport. We picked up a few things at the supermarket across the street. They sell everything including baby food, Pampers, electronics and cucumber flavour Lay's chips (they taste better than they sound). All 3 of us were in bed asleep by 6:00 p.m. (for those who don't know, my mom is with us). We spent our first full day today at the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. It was quite a cool day but we all enjoyed ourselves. Only part of our group is here early (Alisa, Ivan, Marnie, Bob, France & Marc-Andre). Tomorrow we are joined by the rest of the group (in the afternoon), with the exception of Laird, Nancy and Jadyn, as they are in Hefei visiting the city in which Jadyn was born. I have attached a few photos from today. Tomorrow we plan on doing a little shopping. Our flight to Guangzhou leaves very early in the morning and we will attend at the Civil Affairs office to receive Lian at 2:30 in the afternoon (1:30 a.m. Thursday in Canada). We are so excited!!!! Mommy, Daddy and Nana are coming Lian. Just 2 more sleeps!!!
